Do Recipes and Realtors Mix Well? Pumpkin and Chorizo Soup

Do you ever get a post card from a Realtor with a recipe listed on it and wonder, "why is my Realtor sending me this information?"

I never understood this marketing strategy. What do recipes have to do with real estate? It always seemed like unnecessary marketing fluff to me.

And then today I met with a buyer with the important criteria of a kitchen built for cooking with tons of cabinet and counter space. And this blog idea came about!

A blog is such a great place to showcase personality and interests (as well as market knowledge). Maybe a potential client will see this blog and feel confident that I am an agent that truly understands cooking and can find them the best kitchen and house in their price range. Well, that's my goal anyway (and sharing an awesome recipe).

So, tonight I made Pumpkin and Chorizo soup. You can find the recipe here (I originally found it on Pinterest). I love making soup in the fall. I'm not in the kitchen much during the spring and summer because we mostly grill (and who wants to heat up the house for dinner when it's 105 degrees outside?). Yet, as soon as it's fall (even though it's still in the 100s outside), I'm ready to cook.

Here are some photos to share! Happy cooking this fall everyone! Let me know if you try the recipe or have other great fall recipes to share.

Sautee in some some oil, 1/2 onion chopped, 2 cloves garlic chopped and then add chorizo, 3 cup chicken stock, 1 potato cut up, 1 can pureed pumpkin, 1 tbsp. oregano, 1 tsp cumin. Bring to boil and then simmer for 45 min. Remove from heat and add 1/4 cup heavy cream and garnish with cilantro (and I added avocado). Slap chop optional!

After, soup complete

Finished product! Turned out great. I needed to add salt because I used low sodium chicken broth.
