How Safe is Austin, TX?

Burglar

When Buyers ask me, "How safe is this area?"

I send them these two websites and ask them to research the crime statistics and national sex offender registry and then...tell me how they measure the safeness of the area.  An area's level of "safeness" will be different for every person. So, it's best to check the local police department and make the determination for yourself.

Here are two links to file away when you are researching real estate in the Austin area.

1. http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/police/crimeinformation.htm - When you agree to the terms on this page, the next page is a map. I like to use the feature that will allow you to enter an address and search 18 months worth of crime statistics in a 1000 ft radius of that address.

2. http://www.familywatchdog.us/ - this is the National Sex Offender registry. Always a good site to check periodically.
